Optics Engineer
We are seeking an experienced Optics Engineer to be part of our R&D team.
This role involves designing, developing, and optimizing manufacturing processes for optical components and systems. The ideal candidate will have 2 years background in optical engineering, manufacturing techniques, and quality control processes, ensuring the production of high-precision optical products.
Key Responsibilities
Process Development and Optimization
- Design and implement manufacturing processes for optical components, including lenses, mirrors, prisms, and coatings.
- Optimize fabrication methods such as grinding, polishing, coating, and assembly to improve efficiency and precision.
Production Support
- Collaborate with production teams to troubleshoot and resolve manufacturing issues.
- Ensure that all production processes meet quality and performance specifications.
Equipment and Technology Management
- Specify, procure, and maintain manufacturing equipment for optical production.
- Develop and implement advanced technologies, such as automated systems, to enhance production capabilities.
Quality Assurance
- Develop and maintain quality control procedures to ensure compliance with industry standards (e.g., ISO 9001).
- Perform inspections, measurements, and testing of optical components using interferometers, profilometers, and other metrology tools.
Design Collaboration
- Work closely with optical designers to ensure manufacturability of new products.
- Provide feedback on design adjustments for optimal production results.
Documentation and Reporting
- Prepare and maintain detailed process documentation, work instructions, and technical reports.
- Analyse production data and report on key performance indicators (KPIs).
Continuous Improvement
- Lead initiatives to enhance product yield, reduce costs, and improve cycle times.
- Stay updated on the latest trends and advancements in optical manufacturing and incorporate them into the production process.
Requirements
- Designing, modelling and analysing optical systems
- Optical manufacturing processes
- Code V or Zemax Optical software advanced user
- Statistical lens tolerancing
- Ghost and stray light analysis
- Design for manufacturing based on capabilities of Optical metrology
- Specification of precision opto-mechanical assemblies; and
- Data analysis using Matlab or other programs.
