Job summary

InnoLight Technology is seeking an Optical Engineer to design and optimize free-space optical paths using MEMS arrays and digital liquid crystal. You will perform rigorous simulation and tolerance analyses to define precise alignment requirements for mechanical design and assembly processes.

The role requires hands-on experience with Zemax or Code V, a strong understanding of Gaussian beam propagation, and a track record of working on free-space optical communication devices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or above in Optical Engineering, Optics, or related field.
• Proficiency in Zemax or Code V; deep understanding of Gaussian beam propagation.
• Experience in designing free-space optical communication devices (WSS, OXC, Optical Switches, Coherent Transceivers).
• Knowledge of MEMS principles and their impact on optical path design is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Optical Architecture Design: design free-space optical path using MEMS arrays, digital LC, including MLA/FAU/lenses.
• Simulation & Tolerance Analysis: run simulations with Zemax/other tools and define tight alignment tolerances.
• Performance Optimization: root-cause analysis of optical performance issues (IL, PDL, Crosstalk) in early prototypes.
• DFM & Scale-up: collaborate with suppliers to release optical drawings and scale the engine to mass production.
