Job description

Are you ready to take the next challenging step in your career? Stolthaven’s Operations department is seeking an Operator B (Operations Technician) to join our team and contribute to the safe and reliable operations of our terminal.

As an Operator B, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safe and efficient execution of terminal operations. This includes performing routine process activities, operating utilities, and conducting basic frontline maintenance tasks—all in alignment with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). You’ll also monitor process parameters, perform field sampling, and ensure that product quality meets customer requirements.

Safety and environmental compliance are central to this role. You will follow Workplace Safety, Health (WSH) and Environmental protocols, apply Safe Work Procedures, and respond effectively to emergencies as a member of the Emergency Response Team. Additionally, you’ll contribute to organisational growth by supporting continuous improvement initiatives.

This is a rotating shift role, requiring close collaboration and teamwork with others on the field. As an effective team player, you’ll communicate and interact well with colleagues to maintain a safe and productive workplace.

Key Responsibilities

1) Administer Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) and Fire and Safety Management System (FSMS)

  • Comply with WSH/EMS systems
    • Participate in activity-based risk assessments
    • Apply Safe System of Work (SSoW) procedures to ensure work activities are performed safely
    • Participate in toolbox, shift take/handover talks prior to start/end of the duty shift work activities
    • Ensure contractors comply with the terminal’s WSH/FSM standards and practices
    • Perform good housekeeping in the workplace

2) Manage Emergency Response and Crisis

  • Respond to emergencies as an Emergency Response Team (ERT) member

3) Perform Activity Process and Utilities Operations

  • Apply Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for process operations
  • Perform start-up, monitoring and shutdown of the activity units and utilities at the facility site
  • Support troubleshooting during all modes of operation including activity upset conditions
  • Perform basic frontline maintenance, process sampling and testing and turnaround works
  • Perform routine field data logging and reporting
  • Prepare process equipment and work areas for mechanical, maintenance and turnaround works
  • Apply emerging technologies to perform process operational tasks
  • Use new data technology to monitor terminal operations and equipment performance
  • Operate robotic and automation technologies to perform terminal surveillances, inspections and optimization

4) Administer Staff and Organizational Development

  • Support continuous improvement project
  • Provide guidance to junior staff
Qualifications
  • Nitec/Higher Nitec/Diploma in Chemical Process Technology
  • Possess minimum 2 (two) years of experience in terminal or industrial as Production/Process Operator/Technician
  • Possess minimum 3 (three) years of experience in the field and/or control room of terminal or industry activities
  • Willing to working in Jurong Island (Company transport is provided at designated pickup point)
