Purpose
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Operations Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of maritime operations, excellent leadership skills, and a proven track record of driving efficiency and productivity.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate agency appointments, review the PDAs and FDAs.
- Communicate with charterers, brokers, agents and vessels regarding voyage orders, vessel itineraries etc.
- Plan/ Prepare/ Circulate loading and discharging operations and coordinate with various parties like Master, attending Port Captains, Stevedores, Agents and other related parties for efficient turnaround at the ports.
- Monitor vessel movements and performances.
- Review and prepare cargo stowage plans to optimize cargo liftings for bulk/ breakbulk or project cargo, including lashing/bedding plan, lashing calculation and other cargo documents.
- Monitor hold cleaning plans, including supply of chemicals and supervisors.
- Proper planning of bunker supplies and coordination with bunker suppliers.
- Handle claims, liaise with P&I clubs and legal teams to resolve disputes/ handle arbitration.
- Attend to the vessels and supervise cargo operation whenever critical shipments are to be loaded onto the vessels. To source and purchase materials required for cargo operation.
- Perform cost control procedures for the voyage expenses and verify bills received from agent and vendors.
- Support Chartering team for fixing of potential shipments, and check/ confirm suitability for the vessels going to chart-in.
- Support Chartering team for max cargo uplift, stowage plan, port information inquiries for prospective vessel’s employment.
- Guide postfix team to calculate voyage laytime, chart-hire and freight, ensure they are correctly calculated and verified against all invoices before sending to Accounts department for settlement.
- Coordinate operations strategies and activities to ensure operational efficiency and meet objectives effectively.
- Identify weakness of the current procedures/ practices/ process, recommend solution for top management’s approval and deploy the improvement plans.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Maritime Studies, Logistics, or equivalent in seafaring qualifications and experiences.
- At least 3 to 5 years of experiences in marine or shipping operations.
- Strong knowledge of voyage planning, cargo stowage, and port coordination.
- Familiar with PDAs, FDAs, bunker planning, and vessel performance tracking.
- Experience handling claims and liaising with P&I clubs and legal teams.
- Skilled in cost control, invoice verification, and operational budgeting.
- Effective communicator with charterers, agents, and vessel crew.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and maritime software tools
