Job summary

A marine services company in Singapore is seeking an Operation Cargo Officer to coordinate cargo operations on bunker tankers. Job Position Summary

The Operation Cargo Officer is responsible for coordinating cargo operations to ensure the safe, efficient, and timely loading and unloading of vessels, in compliance with company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities
  • Undergo training with a senior officer until certified to perform cargo operations on a bunker tanker in Singapore.
  • After certification, report to the Operations Executive and execute onboard cargo custody transfers, as well as loading and discharging instructions received from the Operations Executive.
  • Maintain and monitor onboard cargo inventory, and report any discrepancies immediately to the Operations Executive.
  • Ensure compliance with all SS600, SS524, TR48, and statutory requirements and procedures while onboard.
  • Disseminate all loading and delivery nomination information to the Master and Chief Officer upon receiving instructions from the Operations Executive.
  • Verify that bunker supplies meet the correct quantity and quality as per the given nominations.
  • Update the office with relevant copies of delivered and loaded documents promptly upon return to shore.
  • Ensure that all representative sealed samples for loading and delivery are collected in accordance with SS 600 sampling requirements and procedures.
  • Adhere to all safety regulations and procedures onboard the barge.
  • Perform ad-hoc duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Diploma or higher in Maritime Studies, Nautical Science, Marine Engineering, or related field.
  • Relevant seafaring or bunkering experience is an advantage.
  • Familiarity with SS600, SS524, TR48, and other maritime/bunkering regulatory requirements.
  • Possession of valid Certificates of Competency (COC) or relevant marine licenses preferred.
  • Good knowledge of cargo handling, custody transfer, and inventory management.
  • Strong communication and reporting skills in English (both written and spoken).
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team onboard vessel.
  • Physically fit and medically fit to work onboard tankers.
  • Willing to work in shifts and onboard vessels within Singapore waters.
  • High level of integrity, responsibility, and attention to detail.
