1 Engineering Coordination & Technical Control
- Coordinate all engineering deliverables related to instrumentation—including datasheets, I/O lists, P&IDs, wiring diagrams, location layouts, hook-up drawings, loop diagrams, cause-and-effect charts and material specifications.
- Coordinate with the engineering team to clarify design requirements, resolve discrepancies, and validate technical specifications before field execution.
- Review IFC documents and highlight discrepancies, missing information, or required field modifications.
- Provide engineering clarification to construction and commissioning teams, ensuring work aligns with design intent.
- To ensure engineering changes (MOC), field revisions, and design updates are properly documented and communicated.
2 Site Execution & Technical Leadership
- To lead and coordinate the installation, cable routing, termination, loop checking, and calibration of field instruments.
- Ensure accurate execution of hook-up details, instrument mounting, impulse lines, supports, junction box wiring, and tubing works.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to transmitters, analyzers, control valves, MOVs/EOVs, switches, and related instrumentation systems.
3 Pre-Commissioning & Commissioning Support
- Develop and execute pre-commissioning and commissioning plans for instrumentation systems.
- Coordinate instrument loop checks, point-to-point verification, logic testing, interlock checks, and functional testing.
- Work closely with DCS/PLC/ESD/FGS engineers for I/O verification, card testing, and system integration.
- Oversee vendor activities during commissioning of complex instruments such as analyzers, control valves, and radar/ultrasonic level transmitters.
4 Documentation & Quality Management
- Prepare and maintain calibration sheets, test reports, inspection documents, and commissioning records.
- Ensure documentation is accurate, complete, and consistent with engineering, QA/QC, and project turnover requirements.
- Review instrument inspection test plans (ITPs), checklists, MIRs, FAT/SAT reports, and as-built documentation.
- Support compilation of MC and SC packages and ensure timely submission to the client.
5 Planning, Scheduling & Work Package Management
- Develop two-week look-ahead plans and daily activity schedules for instrumentation tasks.
- Coordinate manpower, tools, test equipment, materials, and consumables to ensure timely work execution.
- Monitor progress against project milestones and proactively address bottlenecks affecting instrumentation scope.
- Collaborate with the planning team on work packaging (AWP/IWP/GWP) where applicable.
6 Stakeholder & Interface Management
- To support as the primary interface for instrumentation engineering between construction, QA/QC, commissioning, operations, and client teams.
- Facilitate coordination meetings to resolve technical issues and ensure alignment between engineering and site execution.
- Assist in vendor management, including scheduling, technical clarifications, and witnessing FAT/SAT/FQP or specialized tests.
- Support operations team during start up, performance testing, and reliability runs.
7 Safety, Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure all instrumentation activities comply with site HSE policies, procedures, and permit systems.
- Conduct toolbox talks, risk assessments, job hazard analyses, and enforce safe work practices for instrumentation crews.
- Address site hazards related to process instrumentation, electrical hazards, hot work, and hazardous area classifications.
- Promote a proactive safety culture within the engineering and field teams.
