Job description

The Occupational Therapist (OT) plays a key role in promoting recovery, independence, and quality of life for residents with psychiatric conditions. This position involves assessing functional abilities, developing individualized intervention plans, and facilitating therapeutic activities that support residents in achieving personal, social, and vocational goals. The OT also collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to ensure holistic care and contributes to the development of structured routines and rehabilitative programs within the home.

Key Responsibilities:

Conduct comprehensive assessments of residents’ functional, cognitive, and psychosocial abilities.

Develop and implement individualized occupational therapy plans focused on enhancing daily living skills, social participation, and vocational readiness.

Facilitate group and individual therapeutic activities such as life skills training, sensory integration, and coping strategies.

Collaborate with psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, and job coaches to support residents’ recovery goals.

Monitor progress and adjust interventions based on residents’ evolving needs.

Educate residents and caregivers on adaptive techniques and tools to improve independence.

Contribute to the development and refinement of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) related to therapeutic programming, safety protocols, and documentation standards.

Maintain accurate and timely documentation in accordance with clinical and regulatory guidelines.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy.

Registered and licensed to practice as an Occupational Therapist.

Experience working with individuals with psychiatric or developmental conditions.

Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.

Knowledge of evidence-based practices in mental health and rehabilitation.

Residential psychiatric rehabilitation setting.

Collaborative, multidisciplinary team environment.
