Job description

The NPI Engineer is responsible for translating customer technical drawings and specifications into robust, scalable, and cost-effective manufacturing processes. This role is critical in ensuring a smooth transition from customer requirements to production readiness in a precision manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review and interpret customer drawings, specifications, and technical requirements.
  • Develop and document end-to-end manufacturing processes, including process flow, work instructions, tooling, and inspection plans.
  • Conduct DFM (Design for Manufacturability) reviews to ensure product designs are optimized for efficient and cost-effective production.
  • Lead PFMEA (Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) activities to identify and mitigate potential process risks.Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Production, Quality, Procurement) to ensure manufacturability and compliance with customer expectations.
  • Lead process validation and first article builds to ensure readiness for mass production.
  • Identify and resolve manufacturability issues early in the product lifecycle.
  • Ensure all documentation (e.g., BOMs, routers, Work Instructions) is accurate and aligned with Quality Management Systems (QMS).
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance process efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Coordinate with suppliers for tooling and material readiness as required.
  • Ensure compliance with internal and external quality standards (e.g., ISO9001, AS9100).
Requirements
  • Degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering.
  • 3–5 years of experience in NPI or manufacturing engineering, preferably in a precision manufacturing environment.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret technical drawings, GD&T, and customer specifications.
  • Proficient in CAD/CAM software (e.g., SolidWorks, SolidCAM, MasterCAM, Unigraphics).
  • Familiar with ERP/MRP systems and manufacturing documentation practices.
  • Experience in high‑mix, low‑volume manufacturing.
  • Familiarity with CNC machining, deburring, and cleanroom processes.
  • Knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies.
