NHGD Junior Medical Laboratory Technologist

Job Responsibilities
- Responsible for the skillful, timely, accurate and sufficient collection of blood specimens from patients as required for clinical tests, using various techniques such as venipuncture, capillary collection and/or heel pricks
 - Perform phlebotomy and ECG in an accurate, efficient and professional way
 - Perform Point of Care Testing (e.g. Prothrombin Time, glucose) and clinical laboratory tests such as urinalysis (e.g. urine FEME, dipstick, pregnancy), haematology (e.g. full blood count, peripheral blood slides, erythrocyte sedimentation rate), biochemistry (e.g. HbA1c, neonate bilirubin), microscopy works (e.g. fungus smear, high vaginal swab) independently
 - Ensure specimen identification, accession, processing and storing of test specimens are in accordance with good laboratory practice
 - Verify and validate all test results; identify and resolve discrepancies and take corrective actions as needed
 - Provide clinicians with timely, quality, accurate and reliable test results
 - Ensure proper documentation for traceability and adherence to good documentation practices
 - Ensure equipment, analysers, reagents, controls and calibration materials are prepared and maintained as required
 - Perform and record Internal and External Quality Controls and troubleshoot in accordance with work instructions / protocol
 - Ensure compliance with hand hygiene, workplace safety, International Patient Safety Goals (IPSG) and International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and other applicable regulatory and accreditation requirements of the laboratory
 
Job Requirements
- Recognized Diploma in Medical Technology or related Science field
 - At least 1 year experience in a laboratory environment and/or relevant experience in phlebotomy preferred
 - Fresh graduate without experience will also be considered
