Job description

The Network Service Engineer is responsible for monitoring and maintaining interconnectivity network infrastructure to ensure minimal downtime and uninterrupted customer service in a data center service. This role involves troubleshooting network incidents and customer-reported issues within agreed SLAs, and coordinating with internal and external providers for resolution when necessary.

• Monitor network performance and manage incidents, ensuring timely diagnosis and resolution within SLA, OLA, and KPI targets.
• Update ticketing systems regularly and progress incidents through to resolution.
• Liaise with external suppliers and internal teams to minimize network disruption and downtime.
• Stay current with emerging network technologies supported by the NOC.

Key Requirements

• Education: Degree in Telecommunications or equivalent experience.
• Certifications: CCNA, JNCIA, or Optical Associate/Foundation (preferred).
• Experience: Proven experience in Network Management or Operations Center within Managed Services, Telecoms, ISP, or Cloud Service Provider sectors.
• Experience: Data Center (co-location) experience is advantageous.
• Technical Skills: Strong understanding of TCP/IP fundamentals.
• Technical Skills: Proficient in LAN/WAN troubleshooting, including physical layer cabling issues.
• Technical Skills: Working knowledge of IP/MPLS networks (Juniper MX Series desirable).
• Experience: Experience with Optical Ethernet and Transport Networks (Ciena 6500 and Waveserver AI desirable).
• Experience: Familiarity with VMware and Linux systems.
• Exposure to cloud connectivity services (Azure ExpressRoute, AWS Direct Connect, Google Cloud Interconnect).
• Scripting knowledge in Python or experience with Ansible automation (a plus).
