Job summary

A leading network operations provider in Singapore seeks an experienced Network Operations Engineer to support hardware and circuit operations. Key responsibilities include participating in network strategies, resolving vendor issues, and providing escalation support. The ideal candidate will have at least 7 years of related experience and a strong understanding of network protocols and troubleshooting. Network certifications are preferred.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years' experience in network operations or related field.
  • Understanding of fiber-optic technology and network troubleshooting.
  • Ability to prepare root cause analysis for outages.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in network and internet peering strategies.
  • Work on vendor servers and resolve hardware issues.
  • Handle traffic queries raised by ISPs/partners.

Job description

The Network Operations Engineer is a network hardware and circuit support engineer for all levels of the network. This position requires the ability to work independently with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Participate in production network and internet peering strategies
  • Experience with networking technologies relative to content delivery network, monitoring capacity and peering traffic.
  • Day-to-day activities involve working on multiple vendor servers and various software and hardware issues
  • Working with multiple TAC vendors to fix the hardware issues
  • Handle traffic and any other queries raised by ISP/partners
  • Capable of driving the first level of Escalations reported by the team.
  • Capability to prepare both Technical and Process MOP and circulating with other Team Leads.
  • Support team in handling network and traffic peering for any Layer 1 to Layer 3 issues.
  • Capability to drive data insights and report them on and as required.
  • Participating in multiple meetings and providing weekly presentations related to Network Performance and Escalations.
  • Work with ISP/vendors on fixing any issues related to network
  • Jointly working with the Regional and Other region Team Leads.
  • Participate in 24/7 support with other teams across the globe. Some weekend work may be required.
Required Qualifications/Skills
  • Bachelor’s degree and 7+ years’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Builds productive internal and external working relationships
  • Exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action
  • Understanding of network and traffic peering
  • Understanding of fiber-optic technology including cable types, connector types, optic types, patch panels, and optical transport technologies will be advantages.
  • Understanding of preparing root cause analysis for any network and server outages.
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to work with service providers, colocation facilities, and ISPs around the world
  • Knowledgeable about the different Network Protocols like OSPF/ISIS and BGP
  • Know-how knowledge about the DWDMs involving multiple vendors like Cienna, Infinera and Cisco NCS.
  • Knowledgeable on Layer 1-3 troubleshooting.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in a multi-vendor network environment.
  • Network certifications. CCNP/JNCIP preferred
  • Any expertise in the field of Optical is a plus.
