The Network Infrastructure Specialist manages and supports the IT infrastructure systems and operations within the school campus. This role includes monitoring infrastructure performance and resolving technical issues. The modernisation of the infrastructure is currently in progress, and additional efforts will be needed to promote the adoption of cloud solutions to enhance the efficiency of school operations.
You will adopt a critical and analytical approach to solving technical problems. Your responsibilities will include taking preventive measures, monitoring infrastructure operations, receiving incidents reported by the Service Desk, and resolving these incidents. The goal is to minimise disruptions to IT services, ensuring smooth daily operations for the school.
Responsibilities
- Key Responsibilities but not limited to:
- Manages the entire infrastructure, including networks, servers, WLC, security systems (Firewall, IPS), and special network services (DHCP, DNS, VLAN, Routing Protocols)
- Provide Level 2 and higher support for IT infrastructure-related incidents. Address reported incidents and manage escalations until a workaround is identified and normal service is restored. Update the incident status in the IT Service Desk System. If an incident remains unresolved, elevate to Level 3 following established procedures.
- Configure, manage, and troubleshoot Switches, WLC, Firewall and other network equipment to ensure optimal network performance and proactively resolve any issues before they affect IT services.
- Apply and enforce firewall rules (FortiGate) and security configurations to protect systems from cybersecurity threats
- Manage Layer 2 and Layer 3 switch configurations (Cisco) for effective network traffic routing and segmentation
- Perform regular firmware and operating system updates on network equipment and servers to enhance security and functionality
- Monitor and optimise network performance, troubleshoot connectivity issues, analyse network traffic for potential concerns and implement capacity expansion to reduce the risk of service disruptions.
- Plan and execute IT infrastructure projects, including provisioning new systems, upgrading existing infrastructure, and deploying new services. The Senior IT infrastructure Specialist is expected to lead and deliver the projects.
- Document the design and configuration of the IT infrastructure, ensuring that the documentation is kept up to date for operational reference.
- Continue to grow professionally by learning new technologies and techniques and keeping current with best IT practices.
- Perform other duties as directed by the Head of IT Operations and Business Partnering, or such persons as the school may designate.
Position Requirements
- Good knowledge in some of these areas:
- Microsoft Windows Server Operating System
- VMware Virtualisation
- Cisco IOS, network switch, network router, WLC and IP Telephony
- VLANS, DHCP and DNS
- Microsoft Office 365 and Google Workspace
- Relevant IT experience in deploying or managing network infrastructure and services.
- Highly self‑motivated and detail oriented.
- Ability to effectively prioritise tasks under pressure, and experience in working in a team‑oriented and collaborative environment.
- Excellent verbal and written English skills.
- Strong interpersonal communication skills.
- At least 3 years of working experience in IT Infrastructure Support.

Qualifications
Minimum of Diploma/Degree in an IT‑related discipline.
