Job summary

A telecommunications firm in Singapore is seeking on-site support for its Data Centre. You'll be involved in provisioning and troubleshooting of DWDM, routers, and fiber issues. Responsibilities include assisting in equipment installation, performing basic optical troubleshooting, and interacting effectively with NOC teams. Responsibilities

  • Respond to on-site trouble tickets and perform first-level diagnostics.

On site support in Singapore Data Centre that will carry out Provisioning and troubleshooting of DWDM, Router, Switch and fibre issues.

Roles and Responsibilities
DWDM (Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing) Support
  • Assist in installation and commissioning of DWDM equipment.
  • Perform basic troubleshooting of optical transmission issues.
  • Monitor alarms and elevate complex faults to senior engineers.
  • Verify optical power levels and ensure compliance with design specs.
Switch & Router Support
  • Perform initial configuration under supervision (e.g., VLAN setup, IP addressing).
  • Monitor device health and interface status.
  • Replace faulty hardware components as directed.
  • Assist in firmware upgrades and patching activities.
Fiber Optic Support
  • Conduct fiber cleaning and connector inspection.
  • Perform basic OTDR tests and document results.
  • Assist in fiber splicing under guidance.
  • Maintain accurate fiber route and patch panel records.
Operational Tasks
  • Respond to on-site trouble tickets and perform first-level diagnostics.
  • Coordinate with NOC for remote troubleshooting and escalation.
  • Maintain inventory of spare parts and tools.
  • Document all activities in the maintenance log and ticketing system.
  • Preventive Maintenance
  • Perform routine checks on DWDM nodes, switches, and routers.
  • Inspect fiber trays and ensure proper cable management.
  • Verify environmental conditions (temperature, humidity) in equipment rooms.
Soft Skills & Collaboration
  • Communicate effectively with senior engineers and NOC teams.
  • Provide clear status updates during outages or maintenance windows.
  • Participate in training sessions to enhance technical skills.
