Job description

Report to: APAC Lead Sustainable Finance

The Nature Finance Lead will drive WWF-Singapore’s efforts to catalise private and public finance for nature-based and biodiversity-positive outcomes. This role sits at the intersection of finance and conservation — working to design, structure, and scale innovative financing mechanisms that channel investment towards sustainable landscapes and carbon finance. In the initial phase, the role will have a strong focus on advancing regional nature finance initiatives, including the development of blended finance vehicles and investment partnerships that lay the groundwork for long-term capital mobilisation. The lead will engage financial institutions, corporates, and policymakers to build the enabling conditions for high-integrity, high-impact nature finance in Singapore.

Key Responsibilities
Nature Finance Programme and Strategy Development
  • Lead, develop and manage WWF-Singapore’s Nature Finance workstream, with a focus on accelerating Financing Green workstream, embedding Carbon finance, and mobilising capital towards natural landscapes.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of WWF-Singapore’s carbon finance strategy in relation to Sustainable finance efforts and workstreams
  • Support building Blended finance vehicles through development of pipeline projects, developing the fund structure and engaging capital providers to build an investment vehicle with philanthropic and private capital providers
  • Represent WWF-Singapore in strategic dialogues, policy discussions, and working groups to advocate for credible, transparent, and equitable nature finance mechanisms.
Strategic Engagement and Influence
  • Build and maintain high-impact relationships with key stakeholders across WWF network offices, government, industry, finance, and civil society.
  • Provide thought leadership to influence market standards, investment frameworks, and disclosure practices that integrate nature and biodiversity considerations.
  • Identify and advance opportunities to mobilise finance for nature-based solutions, biodiversity conservation, and sustainable land- and seascapes.
  • Work with WWF teams and external partners to design and deliver innovative financial mechanisms (e.g., blended finance, impact funds, green bonds, or conservation finance vehicles).
Partnership Development & Delivery
  • Lead the development of proposals aligned to WWF SG’s strategic priorities
  • Steward existing partnerships to ensure delivery, compliance, and long-term impact, such as through preparing partnership updates, reports, and briefings for internal and external stakeholders.
Skills and Requirements
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Environmental Studies, Sustainability, Public Policy, Development Studies, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Strong skills in financial analysis, structuring, or capital mobilisation, with an ability to translate financial concepts into conservation impact.
  • Demonstrated understanding of or exposure to nature-based solutions, conservation finance, or environmental markets.
  • Familiarity with carbon markets, climate finance, or nature-based solutions, with a willingness to deepen technical knowledge in these areas.
