The ideal candidate is passionate about music education and patient with learners of varying ages and abilities. The role involves teaching music theory, technique, and performance across instruments or voice, preparing students for recitals and exams, and maintaining thorough progress records.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Degree in Music or related field (or equivalent professional experience).
• Proven experience teaching music (specify instrument/voice).
• Strong knowledge of music theory and pedagogy appropriate to the instrument taught.
• Prior experience teaching children and/or adults preferred.
• Relevant certifications (e.g., ABRSM, Trinity, Yamaha) an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Plan, prepare, and deliver individual and/or group music lessons tailored to student skill levels and goals.
• Teach music theory, technique, and performance skills relevant to the instrument(s)/voice being taught.
• Monitor and assess student progress, providing regular feedback to students and parents/guardians.
• Prepare students for recitals, examinations (e.g., ABRSM, Trinity), or performances as applicable.
• Maintain accurate records of lesson plans, attendance, and student progress.
• Select and adapt appropriate teaching materials and repertoire for each student.
• Create a supportive, motivating, and disciplined classroom/studio environment.
• Communicate professionally with students, parents, and school administration regarding scheduling, progress, and any concerns.
• Participate in school events, recitals, workshops, and staff meetings as required.
• Maintain and care for instruments/equipment used during lessons.
