Job summary

Tencent Lightspeed Studios is seeking a PhD-level researcher to push the frontiers of multimodal understanding for gaming. You will lead end-to-end experiments, innovate in LLM/VLM post-training approaches, and collaborate with engineers to bring research prototypes into production at scale.

In this role you will publish in top venues and contribute to cutting-edge technologies powering games across devices and genres.

Qualifications

• Pursuing PhD in CS/ML or equivalent research experience.
• Expertise in multimodal understanding and vision-language reasoning.
• Ability to abstract research problems from game business scenarios.
• First-author publications at leading venues (NeurIPS, ICML, CVPR, ACL, etc.).
• Strong implementation skills in modern ML frameworks (PyTorch, JAX).
• Proven ability to run complex experiments and iterate quickly.

Responsibilities

• Pioneer new research directions in multimodal understanding for gaming scenarios.
• Abstract research problems from game business contexts and land deployable solutions.
• Advance multimodal model understanding across images, video, text, and audio.
• Lead post-training methods (SFT, RLHF/RLAIF, reward modeling).
• Design end-to-end experiments from data to training and evaluation.
• Collaborate with engineers to deploy research prototypes at scale.
• Publish at top-tier conferences and contribute to the research community.
