Job summary

A marine services company in Singapore is looking for a Marine Assistant to manage mooring operations and assist in loading and discharging cargo. Candidates should be physically fit, preferably with 2 years of experience in the marine industry, and able to work 12-hour shifts. Training will be provided. This role involves responding to emergencies and maintaining cleanliness at the wharf.

Qualifications

• Preferably having 2 years of working experience, especially in the marine industry.
• Formal training will be provided as necessary.

Responsibilities

• Handle mooring lines in making fast / casting off vessels.
• Connect / disconnect cargo / fresh water hoses.
• Assist in cargo loading / discharging operations.
• Perform ullaging of storage tanks.
• Maintain cleanliness at wharf.
• Participate in pollution / fire exercises at wharf.

WSQ certified for Perform Rigger and Signalman Tasks

WSQ certified to Supervise Safe Lifting Operations

WSQ certified for Perform Work At Height

Job description

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• to handle mooring lines in making fast / casting off vessels.
• to connect / disconnect cargo / fresh water hoses.
• rigging of gangway.
• to assist in cargo loading / discharging operations, including packed stock lifting operations. to assist in lining-up of cargo lines; opening / closing valves.
• to assist in cargo samples collection.
• to perform ullaging of storage tanks.
• to check on vessel’s mooring during operation and to remain alert throughout for responding to emergencies, etc.
• to maintain cleanliness at wharf.
• to perform other duties as assigned during slack hours.
• to participate pollution / fire exercises at wharf as part of training to respond to emergencies.
• Operations at the wharf are carried out 24 hours per day including Sundays and Public holidays and hence at all times during their working hours, the mooring crew / marine assistant is to be ready to respond to emergencies at wharf such as, fire, oil spill and security breaches.
• The operations at the jetties are carried out 24 hours per day including Sundays and Public holidays

KEY SKILLS

• Physically fit to perform labour tasks.

• WSQ certified for Perform Rigger and Signalman Tasks (advantage).
