Job summary

TikTok is seeking passionate mobile software engineers to join our Messaging team in Singapore. You will own client-side (Android & iOS) development of TikTok Messaging, building core chat experiences and real-time communications to deliver a smooth user experience.

You will optimize performance, packaging, and resource usage while exploring AI-powered tooling to boost engineering efficiency. The role requires strong fundamentals and hands-on mobile development in Kotlin/Java or Swift/Obj-C.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or above in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electronic Information Engineering, or related fields.
• Strong learning and communication skills with a sustained passion for technology.
• Ability to understand and debug large and complex code bases.
• Proficient in AI coding tools and mobile development stacks (iOS/Android).

We are the messaging team on TikTok. Our team's mission is to facilitate meaningful user connections through TikTok's messaging experience, which is still in its infancy. We are looking for passionate mobile software engineers to join us and help contribute to our aim of helping users explore and discover the world's creativity, knowledge and moments that matter in everyday life, all while empowering everyone to be a creator directly from their smartphones.

• Responsible for the client-side (Android & iOS) development and iteration of TikTok Messaging, building core chat experiences including the chatroom, stickers, and Streak social-interaction features;
• Develop and optimize real-time Voice & Video Call capabilities and client-side IM infrastructure (IMSDK, on-device data management) to deliver a smooth, and reliable core messaging experience;
• Explore AI-powered engineering efficiency by building AI skills and knowledge bases and creating AI agents to assist daily development and collaboration workflows, improving the team's overall requirement-iteration efficiency and code quality, and optimizing cross-platform (iOS/Android) consistency;
• Continuously optimize client performance, stability, and smoothness, optimize package size and resource consumption, and improve the user experience.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualification(s):

• Bachelor's degree or above in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electronic Information Engineering, or related fields;
• Strong learning and communication skills, and a sustained passion for technology;
• Strong logical analysis and system abstraction abilities; able to understand and debug large and complex code bases;
• Proficient in AI coding tools;
• Solid computer fundamentals (data structures, algorithms, operating systems, etc.); proficient in at least one mobile development stack (iOS: Objective-C/Swift; Android: Kotlin/Java) and familiar with the corresponding platform framework.

Preferred Qualification(s):

• Good team communication and collaboration skills.
• Passion and experience building consumer-facing products is a huge plus; we would love to hear about apps you've developed.
• Interest in or practical experience with AI Skills/AI Agents.
