Job summary

Western Digital is seeking an ML Technical Lead to advance physics‑informed AI in precision inspection and product development. You will architect CNN/UNet/ViT models, validate surrogate and active learning pipelines, and own the end‑to‑end ML platform, including MLflow, Docker, and Kubernetes ecosystems.

You’ll collaborate with domain scientists from problem definition to deployment and mentor a growing team.

Qualifications

• Hands-on AI system ownership from design to deployment.
• 3–5 years of relevant experience and leadership in ML/AI.
• Strong Python/PyTorch and computer vision background.
• Experience shipping ML models into production is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design and own CNN, U‑Net, and ViT systems for precision inspection and defect classification.
• Develop physics‑informed AI and surrogate modeling pipelines.
• Architect active learning pipelines and Bayesian experimental design.
• Own the full ML platform including MLflow, Docker, and AWS EKS.
• Provide technical direction and mentor junior engineers.
