Job description
The Role:

The Middle Office is responsible for supporting daily business‑as‑usual trade control, profit & loss production, and providing critical inputs into market risk and credit risk management.

Middle Office Manager Overview:

The Middle Office Manager will oversee the operations of the MO team, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of trade controls and management reporting across global trading locations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the Middle Office team in daily BAU trade controls, checks, and management P&L reporting.
  • Ensure timely production of daily P&L for trading books, maintaining consistency and integrity.
  • Resolve queries from traders and internal departments related to P&L.
  • Validate internal trade physical and paper marks.
  • Verify physical commodities and derivative deal entries for accurate capture into the Allegro system.
  • Maintain forward curves and trading algorithms.
  • Manage contracts and confirmations for financial trades.
  • Perform daily reconciliation of internal systems against clearing banks for exchange‑traded products.
  • Manage relationships with clearing brokers and clearing banks.
  • Monitor trading activity and report any unusual or suspicious transactions.
  • Support market and credit risk monitoring activities.
  • Assist Treasury with margin management processes.
  • Support Finance in month‑end financial closing.
  • Prepare summary reports (weekly, monthly) on key analytics and trading metrics.
  • Engage in active discussions with Front Risk and Risk teams regarding trading strategies and positions.
  • Provide leadership to MO teams across global trading offices, including training, mentoring, coaching, and professional development guidance.
  • Represent the MO team in Technology initiatives and other MO transformation projects.
Qualifications and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, engineering, or similar quantitative disciplines.
  • 8 to 10 years of relevant work experience in oil & energy trading sector.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to work logically, quickly, and accurately.
  • Computer literate, numerate, and comfortable handling complex and varied data sets.
  • Commercially minded with a flexible approach to problem‑solving.
  • Able to work effectively within a small, culturally diverse team.
