Job Overview
- Design & Engineering: Develop detailed designs for metal architectural elements such as facades, canopies, staircases, and railings.
Ensure designs meet structural integrity, safety, and aesthetic requirements.
Use CAD, BIM, and structural analysis software.
- Material Selection & Specification:Choose appropriate metals based on project needs, considering durability, weight, cost, and environmental factors.
Specify coatings, treatments, and finishes to ensure longevity and aesthetic appeal.
- Collaboration & Coordination:Work with architects, structural engineers, contractors, and fabricators to integrate metal elements into overall building designs.
Ensure compliance with industry standards and local building codes.
- Fabrication & Installation Oversight:Review shop drawings and fabrication plans from metalwork manufacturers.
Conduct quality checks on fabricated components.
Supervise installation on-site to ensure alignment with design specifications.
- Project Management:Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources for metal-related components.
Address technical challenges and propose cost-effective solutions.
- Sustainability & Innovation: Implement sustainable metal-use practices like recyclability and energy-efficient designs.
Research and integrate new materials or construction techniques.
Qualifications & Skills Required
Educational Background:
- Bachelor’s Degree in:
- Architectural Engineering
Civil Engineering
Structural Engineering
Metallurgical/Materials Engineering
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, Rhino, Tekla, SolidWorks (for 3D modeling and detailing).
- Familiarity with metal fabrication processes (welding, CNC machining, laser cutting).
Certifications (Preferred but Not Mandatory):
- Professional Engineer (PE) or Chartered Engineer (CEng) certification.
- LEED Accreditation (for sustainable building practices).
- AWS (American Welding Society) Certification (if dealing with fabrication).
