Perform routine and complex analytical tests on human body fluids and tissues to provide accurate data for optimal diagnosis, treatment and monitoring of disease states. Capable of performing all of the tests in a single section or most of the tests in all clinical laboratory sections: bacteriology, immuno, biochemistry, chemistry, haematology, parasitology, serology and urinalysis.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine laboratory test procedures as outlined in the established SOPs and according to MOH regulations, ISO and CAP accreditation, adhering to quality assurance and control procedures.
- Correlate clinical information and/or previous lab results and report discrepancies to HOD.
- Participate in established TQM activities, QC testing of lab reagents and maintenance of equipment; follow protocol for running and documenting control values.
- Maintain open communication with HOD and other team members to ensure optimal operation and timely follow-up.
- Communicate pertinent information to other team members in a clinically relevant time frame to enhance the lab’s contribution to patient care.
- Perform other assigned duties as instructed or required.
Qualifications
- At least a Diploma in Biomedical Science or relevant course of study.
- Minimum 1–2 years of clinical laboratory experience in a hospital or commercial lab environment (more experience may qualify as Senior Medical Technologist).
- Ability to commit to a 5.5‑day week (Mon‑Sat) and be flexible to different staggered shift schedules.
- Computer literate, basic knowledge and skills in ULTRA an added advantage.
- Knowledge in operating an HPLC instrument and ICMS an added advantage.
