Responsibilities

  • Receive and perform specimen reception from various sources.
  • Rotate through different sections of the Clinical Laboratory.
  • Perform maintenance and troubleshooting of lab instruments.
  • Conduct quality assurance and manage inventory for the section.
  • Assist with telephone queries related to laboratory tests.

Job description
Medical Laboratory Technologist, Clinical Laboratory
  • Receive and perform specimen reception from wards, clinics & external customers.
  • Rotated to the different sections of the Clinical Laboratory (Processing, Chemistry, Immunology, Haematology, Blood Bank, Routine/External, Point of Care).
  • Perform maintenance and troubleshooting of the section’s instruments.
  • Perform quality assurance, inventory management and other duties as assigned.
  • Assist with telephone queries on all laboratory tests, results, specimen collection instructions.
  • Adhere to the department’s standard operating procedures and safety requirements.
  • Participate in Quality Improvements projects and other quality initiatives.

Requirements

  • Degree in Biomedical Science / Biological Science or equivalent
  • Good analytical and concentration skills
  • Good communication skills and able to work well in a diverse and fast paced environment
  • Able to perform rotating and staggered shifts (morning, afternoon, night, weekends & public holidays), as required by the department
