Our Client, a well-established shipyard is seeking a strong Mechanical Engineering Lead to oversee their mechanical engineering function. This is a key leadership role within an existing department, ideal for someone who enjoys driving standards, guiding a team, and taking ownership of technically complex projects.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Managing day‑to‑day operations of the mechanical engineering team
• Providing technical direction, regulatory updates, and coaching to engineers
• Contributing technical assessments for tenders and project evaluations
• Planning manpower and resources to ensure efficient team utilisation
• Leading major newbuild, conversion, and retrofit projects from a technical standpoint
• Reviewing equipment specifications, layouts, and system integration
• Handling vendor coordination and ensuring alignment with other engineering disciplines
• Ensuring accurate 3D model integration for piping, HVAC, and machinery systems
• Maintaining compliance with classification rules, safety regulations, and industry standards
• Working closely with internal teams, clients, design partners, and contractors to meet project milestones

What We’re Looking For

• 10+ years’ experience in marine/offshore engineering (machinery, piping, HVAC design)
• At least 5 years in a leadership role managing teams of 8 or more
• Degree/Diploma in a relevant engineering field
• Strong communication, project management, and leadership skills
• Proficiency in AutoCAD; knowledge of Tribon, AVEVA, or CADMATIC is advantageous
• Solid understanding of marine system design, calculations, piping, HVAC, and class requirements
