Job summary

A leading engineering firm in Singapore is seeking a Mechanical Engineer specialized in tunnelling projects. You will lead the installation, commissioning, and maintenance of TBM and associated systems. The ideal candidate should have over 10 years of experience and a strong understanding of hydraulic systems and mechanical diagnostics. Qualifications

Job Description

Equipment & System Management
  • Lead the installation, commissioning, operation, and maintenance planning for TBM and associated mechanical systems.
  • Oversee mechanical systems such as tunnel ventilation, cooling, pumps, slurry systems, segment erectors, and conveyor/belt systems.
  • Evaluate equipment performance and implement optimization and cost‑saving improvements.
  • Approve maintenance procedures, troubleshooting methods, and spare‑parts strategies.
Technical Oversight
  • Review mechanical designs, technical submittals, calculations, and shop drawings.
  • Provide expert‑level troubleshooting for mechanical failures, hydraulic systems, rotating machinery, and tunnelling plant.
  • Ensure mechanical systems comply with project specifications, contractual requirements, and regulatory standards.
  • Lead root‑cause analysis for breakdowns and develop preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
Project Coordination
  • Coordinate with tunnelling, electrical, civil, and instrumentation teams to ensure mechanical systems integrate smoothly with construction activities.
  • Support procurement planning, vendor selection, and equipment acceptance testing.
  • Mentor mechanical engineers and maintenance teams; provide technical training.
Safety & Compliance
  • Enforce safety standards on mechanical equipment, lifting operations, confined‑space ventilation, and emergency procedures.
  • Ensure all mechanical systems meet HSE, fire protection, and environmental requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • 10 years of experience in tunnelling projects (TBM or NATM/SEM).
  • Strong knowledge of hydraulic systems, rotating equipment, high‑capacity pumps, ventilation machinery, and TBM mechanical systems.
  • Familiarity with CMMS systems and mechanical diagnostic tools.
  • Excellent leadership, planning, and communication skills.
  • Able to work shift work, 12 hour shift, 6 day work week
