A leading engineering company in Singapore is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to design and develop layouts for LV switchboards. Ideal candidates should have a diploma in Mechanical Engineering and preferably 3 years of experience. Proficiency in CAD software like AutoCAD or SolidWorks is essential. Strong problem-solving and communication skills are required, as well as knowledge of industry standards.

Job description

Responsibilities & Duties

• Design and develop mechanical layouts for LV switchboards using 2D and 3D CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks).
• Ensure designs comply with relevant standards (e.g., IEC 61439, UL 891) and internal engineering specifications.
• Select and integrate mechanical components such as enclosures, busbar systems, hinges, and fasteners.
• Prepare and maintain Bill of Materials (BOM), detailed drawings, and technical documentation.
• Work closely with electrical engineers to ensure mechanical and electrical integration.
• Support production and assembly teams by resolving technical issues and optimizing design for manufacturability (DFM).
• Collaborate with suppliers and procurement teams to source appropriate materials and components.
• Conduct design reviews, risk assessments, and quality checks throughout the product lifecycle.
• Provide technical support during testing, commissioning, and customer inspection processes.

Job Specifications

• Minimum Diploma in Mechanical Engineering
• Preferably 3 years of relevant work experience. Candidates with lesser experience will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
• Proficient in CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or equivalent).
• Good knowledge of sheet metal design and manufacturing methods.
• Understanding of LV switchgear components, busbar arrangements, and enclosure design.
