Job description
Job Description

About your role

Mechanical Design
  • Design standardized 6-axis robotic cells, including positioners, linear rails, tool changers, sensors, guarding/enclosures, pedestals, safety devices, and cable management.
  • Develop mechanical components such as tool brackets, jigs, and fixtures for internal and customer projects.
  • Perform the required mechanical calculations to ensure design is robust for full production runs.
  • Perform reach, payload, and interference studies to optimize robot positioning and cycle performance for standard cells and custom projects.
  • Maintain standardized designs compatible with multiple robot brands (ABB, FANUC, KUKA, Yaskawa, Kawasaki, UR, etc.).
Product Development & Validation
  • Create modular design architectures that allow mix-and-match modules for different applications.
  • Produce full mechanical design packages (3D assemblies, drawings, BOMs, manufacturing documents).
  • Apply design standards to improve repeatability, cost efficiency, and scalability across product families.
  • Support prototype builds, validate alignment and tolerances, and refine designs based on testing and field feedback.
  • Ensure safety compliance (RIA, ISO 10218, ANSI) through proper guarding, interlocks, and risk mitigation.
Collaboration & Support
  • Work with Go-To-Market and Operations teams on design requirements, outsourcing, and hardware procurement.
  • Provide technical input for marketing, sales, customer layouts, installation guides, and product documentation.
  • Participate in design reviews and collaborate across teams throughout the product lifecycle.
Requirements
  • Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Design, or related discipline.
  • 3 to 7 years of mechanical design experience with proven track record, preferably on industrial robots or automated systems.
  • Proficiency in reach studies, robot positioning, and mechanical integration of 6-axis robots.
  • Strong CAD skills (SolidWorks, Fusion360, Inventor, or equivalent).
  • Hands‑on understanding of manufacturing (sheet metal, welding, machining, assembly).
  • Experience designing guarding, frames, pedestals, or fixtures for robotic applications.
Good to Have
  • Experience developing standardized robotic platforms or repeatable product lines.
  • Knowledge of EOAT design and integration principles.
  • Familiarity with industrial robot arm operations.
  • Understanding of electrical and pneumatic routing within robotic cells.
  • Experience working in a product development or OEM environment.
  • Independent and able to work with minimal supervision.
