Responsibilities
  • The Bulk Carrier Vessels allocated to the Marine Manager are to be operated in a safe, economical, and environmentally responsible manner, with particular attention to navigation and cargo operations in compliance with current Class, Flag, and ISM regulations.
  • To make sure that vessels abide by all applicable laws and regulations, with a focus on the ISM code, the ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 standards, as well as the laws of the flag state, the port state, and the particular requirements of the industry; additionally, to provide maritime support to ships as needed.
  • Assistance with issues pertaining to communication between charterers and charter parties.
  • Create and carry out procedures relevant to cargo operations.
  • Attend to extra responsibilities as determined by the yearly employee dialogue.
  • Examine and react to Unwanted Events.
  • Take part in the Shipboard Management Systems Review evaluation.
  • Plan management reviews and make sure the decisions made are carried out.
  • Verify that the fleet follows the standard operating procedures specified by the owner.
  • Make sure the owners and fleet are in constant communication.
  • Make sure there are no disagreements while loading or unloading.
  • In case of a possible conflict, step in, take command of the situation, mediate between the ship, its owners, the P&I club, the shipper, and the charterer via the parties' regular channels of contact in accordance with SMA and CP.
  • Follow firm policies when handling goods, making sure to protect the interests of managers and owners while also considering structural, crew, and cargo safety.
  • Keep an eye on any vessels near 300 nautical miles in relation to TRS to make sure none are being negatively impacted by the system. In compliance with the owner's standard operating procedures, necessary guidance for vessel masters must be given promptly.
  • Engage the workforce throughout loading and unloading to keep an eye out for any arguments regarding the quality or quantity of the shipment. Make sure the load line survey is finished in compliance with local and international laws while working with the owners and crew.
Requirements
  • Master Mariner Certification.
  • Mastery in operating bulk carriers across the ocean.
  • Knowledgeable about Australian ports, especially C5, C10, and P4_82 transactions.
  • Experience with PPA ports will be beneficial as well.
  • 3-5 years in a comparable role on the coast is preferred.
  • Strong written and spoken English skills.
