Job summary

KLA is seeking a highly capable Mechanical/Mechatronics engineer to join its advanced equipment team. You will design and analyze optomechanical assemblies, manage tolerances, and collaborate with controls and instrumentation experts.

The role requires strong CAD skills (Creo/SolidWorks), experience in semiconductor equipment, and the ability to travel up to 25%. You will set up experiments, perform data analysis, and contribute to root-cause investigations while communicating clearly with

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s in Mechanical/Mechatronics with 5–6 years of experience, or PhD with 4+ years.
• Proficient in CAD: Creo/SolidWorks.
• Experience in semiconductor equipment industry preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Willingness to travel up to 25%.

Responsibilities

• Set up experiments and perform data analysis/root cause analysis.
• Read and interpret mechanical drawings; use precision testing instruments to diagnose issues.
• Apply GD&T and tolerance stack-ups to ensure DOF requirements.
• Troubleshoot and support technical issues on the electro‑mechanical stage.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve design and manufacturing challenges.

Job Description/Preferred Qualifications

• Strong mechanical engineering fundamentals including design principles, materials, and fabrication methods


• Proficient with CAD, Creo/Solidworks.


• Strong understanding of optomechanical assemblies, alignment processes and tolerance control to meet required degrees of freedom (DOF)


• Strong Understanding of the controls systems and sensors and Pneumatics involved in Electro Mechanical stage


• Good understanding of vibration, stiffness, thermal effects


• Experience in semiconductor equipment industry /manufacturing is preferred


• Team player with good writing and verbal communication skills


• Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills to support technical issues. Set-up experiments, and perform Data analysis/root cause analysis


• Ability to read and understand Mechanical drawings and use a variety of precision testing and measuring instruments to diagnose system issue.


• Good Understanding of the GD&T, Tolerance stack up analysis/ error budgeting

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s/Master's Level degree in Mechanical / Mechatronics engineering with at least 5-6 years of experience, or Doctorate in mechanical engineering with at least 4 years of experience.
