Job Description
1. Strategic Leadership & Business Development
- Develop and execute long-term strategies to grow the company’s presence in tunnelling and underground construction markets.
- Identify, pursue, and secure new projects through market research, networking, and proactive client engagement.
- Lead the company’s business development efforts by building strong relationships with clients, consultants, contractors, and government agencies.
- Oversee the preparation of tender strategies and ensure competitive, profitable bids.
- Evaluate new market opportunities, potential joint ventures, and strategic partnerships.
- Represent the company at industry conferences, technical forums, and business development events.
2. Project & Operations Oversight
- Provide executive oversight of all tunnelling projects (TBM, NATM, microtunnelling, cut-and-cover).
- Ensure all projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to technical specifications.
- Monitor operational KPIs, progress reports, and site performance.
- Implement risk-management and mitigation strategies across all projects.
3. Technical & Safety Governance
- Promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with HSE policies and tunnelling standards.
- Oversee engineering procedures, quality systems, and adherence to technical specifications.
- Ensure compliance with local regulations and international best practices.
4. Financial Management
- Set annual budgets, financial targets, and cost-control strategies.
- Monitor financial performance, profitability, and cash flow.
- Approve major expenditures and investments in tunnelling equipment and technology.
5. People & Organizational Leadership
- Lead and mentor senior managers across engineering, operations, safety, commercial, and finance functions.
- Drive a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Oversee recruitment and talent development for key technical and management roles.
6. Stakeholder & Contract Management
- Act as the primary executive liaison for clients, JV partners, subcontractors, and regulatory bodies.
- Manage high-level commercial negotiations and resolve contractual issues.
- Report to the board and shareholders on business performance and strategic initiatives.
Requirements
- Degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (Master’s preferred).
- Min 15 years’ experience in large-scale tunnelling.
- Proven track record delivering TBM and/or NATM tunnel projects.
- Strong understanding of geotechnical risks, tunnelling equipment, and underground construction methods.
- Excellent commercial, contractual, and financial management skills.
