Job description

Flint - Asia-Pacific Technology Manager

We are looking for a Manager with experience in technology policy to support the delivery of client work and business development work across our fast-growing Asia‑Pacific team based in Singapore. You will work closely with team members to support our technology sector clients on public policy, regulation, politics, and commercial strategy.

Tech firms face a challenging policy and regulatory environment across Asia‑Pacific. Geopolitical tensions, rapid evolutions in technology, and governments’ ambitions to increase regulatory control all affect how tech firms can build and operate successful businesses in the region. We are helping the world’s leading tech firms navigate cutting‑edge policy, regulatory, and geopolitical issues across Asia‑Pacific and effectively engage with governments and regulators.

You will have scope to engage with clients at the most senior levels. The role will provide an unparalleled opportunity to research and analyse the complex policy challenges our clients face and develop options and approaches to address those challenges, backing up recommendations with wider strategic and political analysis.

Flint provides an excellent professional and educational environment for people to accelerate their personal and career development. There will be space to engage in discussion and debates on substantive policy and political challenges, as well as significant scope for progression through the company. You will join a rapidly growing team, with the opportunity to take ownership of tasks and contribute to the company’s growth in the region.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

We are looking for candidates who have experience relevant to technology policy, particularly, but not limited to AI policy and regulation, online safety, data governance, and data centres. We welcome any candidates with experience working for government departments or regulators. We are also open to candidates from commercial backgrounds, including in‑house policy roles in industry or experience in other consulting firms, with a keen interest in politics, policy and regulation. For manager‑level roles, we generally look for candidates with 4‑7 years’ work experience – though this is a guide only and we will consider applications on a case‑by‑case basis.

Our ideal candidate will have:

  • Strong experience in technology policy fields – this might include one or several of AI policy and regulation, online safety, data governance, and data centres.
  • A professional background in government, a regulator, consultancy, think tank, or industry body in managerial positions.
  • A proven track record of managing projects in fast‑paced, delivery‑focussed environments.
  • Excellent analytical, research and problem‑solving skills – the ability to quickly dive into new topics and draw out the implications of complex evidence to give clear strategy and policy advice.
  • Strong interpersonal skills – a flexible approach and the ability to work well across teams, both with colleagues and clients.
  • Commercial acumen, with the ability to identify new business opportunities and deliver commercially viable solutions to clients.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills, with the ability to provide clear, concise advice to stakeholders, both in written and verbal form.
  • Fluency in English is required. Aptitude in other regional languages is desirable but not required (in particular, Mandarin, Korean, Japanese or Bahasa).
  • (Desirable but not required) Connections to government officials and/or regulators working on technology‑related policy in at least one Asia‑Pacific country or multilateral grouping.
TO APPLY

To be successful, please submit your CV with a short coverletter (max 600 words) by Friday 20 February.

To be successful, please submit your CV and cover letter setting out:
