Singapore Art Museum opened in 1996 as the first art museum in Singapore. Also known as SAM, we present contemporary art from a Southeast Asian perspective for artists, art lovers and the art curious in multiple venues across the island, including a new venue in the historic port area of Tanjong Pagar.

Designation

Manager/Senior Manager, Public Art

Responsibilities

i) Lead and ensure project realisation in collaboration with various SAM departments and partners, in adherence to project expectations:

  • Monitor progress and manage project risks to ensure that the project is delivered on time, within scope and budget
  • Develop and implement all aspects of planning and operations relating to the realisation of public artworks and other projects, as well as their ongoing care
  • Organise and develop a full project life cycle project plans for the production management activities, including overseeing workflow, budget & costs management, timeline setting, project administration and exhibition set up and maintenance, logistics, design, fabrication and artwork/project installation for local and travelling exhibitions/projects
  • Analyse and manage project risk, monitor progress and take corrective measures
  • Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation
  • Secretariat and ad-hoc duties, where applicable

ii) Co-develop and support project-specific Public Programmes:

  • Collaborate with curators, educators, and artists to design and implement site-responsive public programmes that contextualise public artworks for diverse audiences
  • Evaluate the impact of programmes through audience feedback, documentation, and reporting, ensuring alignment with SAM's broader pedagogical and engagement strategies

iii) Support venue and project partnerships for project pipeline and co-manage stakeholders:

  • Represent SAM in negotiations and presentations with partners, ensuring clear articulation of curatorial intent, feasibility, and mutual objectives
  • Draft and manage licencing agreements, partnership frameworks, and project roadmaps to ensure roles and responsibilities are clearly defined and executed across all parties
Qualifications
  • Minimum 5-8 years of experience in the museum, arts, and culture sector or equivalent
  • Bachelor's degree in Arts or Business Management, or a related field
  • Excellent project management skills, with a proven track record in coordinating complex projects involving multiple stakeholders
  • Experience in art production and installation is an advantage
  • Highly motivated, creative, and dynamic individual with strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects and timelines simultaneously
  • Demonstrated cultural sensitivity and empathy when working with diverse communities
  • Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and public holidays as required
  • Physically fit and able to work at height, including in outdoor conditions when necessary
