We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Manager, Purchasing to oversee and manage all purchasing activities for the mtu business in Singapore. This role is pivotal in ensuring that the purchasing function operates in compliance with company policies, supports operational excellence, and drives value through effective supplier management and cost optimization.

Rolls‑Royce Power Systems is headquartered in Friedrichshafen in southern Germany and employs around 9,000 people. The product portfolio includes mtu‑brand high‑speed engines and propulsion systems for ships, power generation, heavy land, rail and defense vehicles and for the oil and gas industry as well as diesel and gas systems and battery containers for mission‑critical, standby and continuous power, combined generation of heat and power, and microgrids.

Key Accountabilities
  • Team Leadership
    • Supervise and lead the purchasing team to achieve performance goals and ensure high levels of engagement and productivity.
    • Develop and mentor team members, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and collaboration.
  • Procurement Operations
    • Oversee and ensure the timely execution of all purchasing activities in compliance with company policies, procedures, and relevant regulations.
    • Perform first‑level approval for Purchase Orders generated by the Purchasing team.
    • Continuously review and improve procurement processes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Supplier Management
    • Identify, source, onboard, and develop suppliers to ensure a reliable and cost‑effective supply of goods and services.
    • Negotiate contracts and agreements with suppliers, ensuring favorable terms, pricing, and service levels.
    • Establish and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers and foster long‑term partnerships.
    • Conduct regular supplier performance evaluations including site surveys, ensuring compliance with contractual obligations and quality standards.
  • Compliance & Governance
    • Ensure adherence to company policies, procedures, and relevant statutory requirements in all purchasing activities.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Business Administration, Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in procurement, with at least 3 years in a managerial or supervisory role.
  • Experience in the manufacturing or engineering industry is preferred, especially in power systems, heavy machinery, or related sectors.
  • Strong knowledge of procurement practices, supplier management, and contract negotiation.
  • Familiarity with relevant regulations and compliance requirements in Singapore.
  • Proficient in ERP systems (especially SAP) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.
