Job summary

A leading sustainability organization based in Singapore is looking for a passionate individual to join their Energy Transition team. The role involves driving business development and managing client projects in the low carbon energy sector within Southeast Asia. Ideal candidates will have strong business development skills, familiarity with energy markets, and proven project management capabilities. This position offers the chance to impact the decarbonisation efforts in the region significantly.

Qualifications

  • Experience in business development in the low carbon energy sector.
  • Experience of one or more markets in S.E. Asia.
  • Knowledge of energy flexibility and energy regulation.

About the role:

The Energy Transition team’s purpose is to enable the development of an affordable, secure consumer centric, flexible and decarbonised global energy system. The team do this through taking a whole system thinking approach underpinned by innovation, impartiality, and robust evidence generation. We are focused on three key topics within theEnergy Transition agenda: coal transition, grid development and renewable integration.

The successful candidate will support our growth through developing new business and delivering energy transition projects that will deliver high quality and high impact advice to our SE Asia clients.

The ideal candidate is a passionate and motivated individual with energy market experience and strong business development and consulting skills. You will have a grasp of various electricity policies, market arrangements and regulatory frameworks and how these may evolve in the Southeast Asian region.

Main duties and responsibilities:
  • drive business development including proactive sales and responding to competitive tenders, writing bids and proposals
  • develop and strengthen relationships with key clients in the low carbon energy sector, attend conferences, external meetings and develop relationships with key stakeholders
  • manage client projects of varying complexity, from inception through to completion, including:
    • leading the problem-solving effort
    • imanaging analysis, research and quality assurance
    • managing project teams and QA of sub-contractors
    • liaising with client contacts on day-to-day project matters
    • managing project budgets and finances
  • maintain and grow a network of stakeholders, clients and partnersacross the low carbon energy sector
  • help the SE Asia meet its targets for revenue and business development activity in the Energy Transition sector by meeting your own targets
  • deliver your projects and programmes on time, to budget andresulting in decarbonisation impact in line with the Carbon Trust’smission
  • get good feedback from clients, leading to greater and morefavourable Carbon Trust brand recognition, particularly in its targetclient markets.
Key skills we are looking for:
  • strong business development skills and ability to build client and partner relationships and influence stakeholders in a technically complex sector
  • an ability to work effectively in a complex team environment and to take initiative and deliver projects independently when required
  • organised and efficient, with excellent project management and project delivery skills
  • ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines
  • proficiency with MS Excel, MS Word and MS PowerPoint
  • fluent English speaker

Ideally, you also have

  • a proven ability in developing successful bids in the low carbon energy sector across a range of private and/or public sector clients in Southeast Asia
  • a proven ability to manage small teams and in delivering high quality consulting projects in the low carbon energy sector
  • excellent communication skills (written and oral), with the ability to lead and run workshop sessions, present to small and large audiences and write high quality reports.
  • excellent strategic problem-solving skills and solution development
Qualifications and experience:
  • degree educated (or equivalent)
  • experience of business development, including proactive andresponding to formal tender processes in the low carbon energy sector
  • experience of one or more markets in S.E. Asia
  • experience of working on energy transition related activities,ideally with much of this time based in an energy supply, energynetwork, research/innovation body, academia, or consulting organisation
  • knowledge of topics such as energy flexibility, energy policy,energy regulation, network innovation and energy storage
  • experience in system modelling/whole system analysis is desirable
  • experience of designing or delivering innovation projects andprogrammes is desirable
