Manager, Data Operations & Governance (1 Year Contract)

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated data professional to join our team. You will play a crucial role in Data Operations & Governance.

Data Operations:

To ensure our data pipelines, databases, and reporting systems run efficiently and accurately to support business decision-making. The ideal candidate will work closely with Data Engineering, Analytics, and Business Operations teams to maintain high data quality, automate processes, and support scalable data operations.

Key Responsibilities (Data Operations)

• Monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot daily data pipelines, ETL processes, and data workflows.
• Assist in the integration and migration of data between systems and platforms.
• Ensure data accuracy, completeness, and consistency across multiple systems and sources.
• Partner with Data Engineering to optimize data ingestion, transformation, and storage processes.
• Document data processes, data dictionaries, and standard operating procedures.
• Support analytics and business teams by providing clean, reliable data for reporting and modelling.
• Stay up-to-date with industry trends, best practices, and emerging tools. (ie, AI)

The Data Governance:

To develop, implement and maintain the organization’s data governance framework. This role ensures that data is accurate, consistent, secure, and used effectively across the enterprise. The incumbent will collaborate with data stewards, business units, and IT to establish data standards, policies, and controls that promote high-quality, trusted data for decision‑making.

Key Responsibilities (Data Governance)

• Develop, implement, and maintain the enterprise data governance framework, policies, and standards.
• Work with business data owners and stewards to define and document data definitions, data quality rules, and data lineage.
• Partner with IT and data engineering teams to ensure metadata management and data cataloging practices are properly implemented.
• Collaborate with analytics and business teams to promote a culture of data stewardship and literacy across the organization and ensure governed data is used appropriately and effectively.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Management, Business, Economics, Statistics, Engineering, Computer Science, Data Analytics or a related field.
• 3 – 5 years of experience in data operations, data governance or data analysis.
• Strong understanding of data models, relational databases (SQL), and data integration tools.
• Experience with data dictionary, data cataloging, lineage, and metadata management.
• Familiarity with ETL tools, data warehousing and BI in cloud data environments.
• Experience with SQL, Python or other data analysis tools is a must.
• Experience with Microsoft Purview, Databricks Unity Catalog, OneLake Catalog, Collibra or other Data governance tool is a plus.
• Experience with Azure Data factory, Azure Databricks, Microsoft Fabrics or other Data engineering tool is a plus.
