A new statutory board overseeing food safety is seeking a proactive Project Coordinator to manage timelines and support the enactment of food safety legislation. The successful candidate will have strong organizational skills and at least two years of experience in a project coordination role. Responsibilities include facilitating meetings, preparing documentation, and engaging with stakeholders. Food Safety and Security Act (FSSA) was passed by Parliament in January 2025 and will be implemented over 3 tranches from 2025 to 2027. This requires the making of subsidiary legislation, and you will be part of a team responsible for preparing, planning and enabling the implementation of the FSSA. This position requires the job applicant to be proactive, highly organised and detail-oriented as he/she supports a high-priority, multi-year workstream involving multiple divisions and stakeholders. The role is essential to ensuring the work stays on track, meetings are well-coordinated, and progress is clearly documented and communicated.
1. Member of the legislative development and management team responsible for leading the enactment of legislation to ensure that SFA has the legal power to operationalise food safety interventions including standards in food regulations. Duties also include studying the existing requirements and industry practice, formulating new requirements, engaging stakeholders (both internal and external), and working with other divisions and agencies to ensure smooth implementation.

The Singapore Food Agency (SFA) is a new Statutory Board formed under the ‘Ministry of Sustainability and the Environment (MSE) to oversee food safety and security. The SFA will serve as the single point of contact for public feedback on food-related issues, and strengthen management of foodborne disease outbreaks to protect public health. The SFA will also facilitate more business-friendly regulations with oversight of all food safety policies and consolidation of food laboratory capabilities to deepen competencies in food diagnostics, and research and development in food safety.
