Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Troubleshoot electrical systems including motors, control circuits, sensors, and switches.
  • Diagnose mechanical faults in gearboxes, bearings, rotating equipment, and pneumatic/hydraulic systems.
  • Escalate complex issues to Shift Leader or Senior Technicians when needed.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics and mechanical drawings.
  • Maintain records of maintenance and breakdown reports in CMMS.
  • Collaborate with maintenance team to minimize downtime and improve equipment reliability.

Job Summary

This role is responsible for independently troubleshooting and repairing electrical and mechanical systems. This role responds to production breakdowns during assigned shift to ensure timely restoration of equipment and minimize downtime.

Role and Responsibilities

1. Equipment Maintenance:

a) Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on mechanical and electrical systems independently.

b) Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems including motors, control circuits, contactors, sensors, and switches.

c) Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical faults in gearboxes, pneumatic systems, belts, bearings, rotating equipment, and basic hydraulic systems.

d) Perform mechanical adjustments, component replacement, and minor repair work to restore equipment operation.

e) Diagnose basic to intermediate equipment faults and implement appropriate corrective actions. Escalate complex or system-level issues to the Shift Leader, Senior Technicians, or Supervisor.

f) Read and interpret electrical schematics and mechanical drawings.

g) Perform basic PLC fault checking (I/O status monitoring, alarm review, and fault reset only; no program modification).

h) Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and breakdown reports in CMMS.

i) Monitor SCADA system alarms and perform basic troubleshooting actions within assigned authority.

j) Perform basic troubleshooting of PLC interfaces, K-Tron feeder systems, and other production equipment software within established procedures.

k) Escalate complex programming or system configuration issues to the Technician 3 (Shift Leader), Senior Technicians, or the Supervisor.

2. Facility Upkeep:

a) Conduct regular inspections of facility systems to identify maintenance needs and safety hazards.

b) Perform basic to intermediate facility repairs and adjustments.

c) Coordinate with Production to restore equipment operation and minimize downtime during breakdowns.

3. Safety and Compliance:

a) Adhere strictly to safety protocols, company procedures, and regulatory requirements while performing maintenance activities.

b) Follow LOTO procedures before conducting maintenance work.

c) Conduct basic Root Cause Analysis (5 Why) for recurring equipment issues.

d) Maintain and promote 5S standards within assigned work areas and support 5S improvement activities.

4. Equipment Installation and Calibration:

a) Assist in installation and setup of new equipment and machinery.

b) Support basic to intermediate process modification and improvement projects.

c) Perform basic calibration and functional checks after repair work.

5. Inventory Management:

a) Maintain organized inventory of spare parts, tools, and supplies for assigned tasks.

b) Recommend spare part replacement when necessary.

6. Collaboration and Communication:

a) Collaborate with maintenance team members to resolve equipment issues.

b) Communicate maintenance status, breakdown analysis, and repair updates to the Supervisor.

c) Provide guidance to Maintenance Technician 1 when required.

7. Training and Development:

a) Provide basic guidance and on-the-job training to new or junior technicians when required.

b) Continuously upgrade technical skills related to electrical and mechanical systems

8. Work Planning:

a) Plan and organize assigned maintenance tasks to ensure efficient execution.

b) Prepare required tools, spare parts, and documentation before commencing work.

c) Coordinate repair timing with Production to minimize operational disruption.

Requirements:

Education Qualifications & Work Experience

Diploma or equivalent technical qualification in Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics, or related field preferred.

2–5 years maintenance experience in manufacturing environment.

Proven experience in electrical and mechanical troubleshooting.

Specific Knowledge

Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical drawings.

Working knowledge of mechanical systems including gearboxes, bearings, rotating equipment, pneumatic and basic hydraulic systems.

Knowledge of safety protocols and regulations.

Ability to work on a rotating shift schedule as assigned, including occasional normal office hours based on operational needs.
