Role
The Maintenance Manager is responsible for leading and managing the maintenance operations of injection molding machinery and related equipment within the production facility. This role ensures optimal machine uptime, minimizes downtime, and drives the implementation of preventive maintenance programs. The Maintenance Manager will oversee a team of maintenance technicians and work collaboratively with production, engineering, and quality departments to achieve operational excellence.
Responsibilities
Maintenance Strategy Development:
- Design and implement a comprehensive preventive maintenance program for injection moulding machines, auxiliary equipment, and facility infrastructure.
- Lead corrective maintenance efforts to swiftly address equipment breakdowns and reduce production interruptions.
- Ensure all maintenance activities comply with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and internal safety policies.
Team Leadership:
- Supervise, train, and mentor the maintenance team to enhance technical skills, performance, and safety awareness.
- Assign tasks and manage shift coverage to maintain continuous support across operations.
- Promote a collaborative culture between maintenance and production teams to meet shared goals.
Equipment and Facility Management:
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, machine performance, and repair history.
- Ensure timely procurement and availability of spare parts and maintenance materials.
- Conduct root cause analysis for recurring equipment issues and implement long-term corrective actions.
Continuous Improvement:
- Identify opportunities to improve maintenance processes and equipment efficiency.
- Recommend equipment upgrades, modifications, or replacements to enhance production capabilities.
- Introduce innovative technologies and methodologies to optimize maintenance effectiveness.
Safety and Compliance:
- Enforce strict adherence to safety protocols during all maintenance operations.
- Monitor compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations.
- Conduct routine safety inspections of machinery and maintenance areas.
Budgeting and Cost Control:
- Develop and manage the maintenance department’s budget, ensuring cost-effective practices.
- Analyse maintenance expenditures and identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising reliability.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Coordinate maintenance schedules with production and quality teams to minimize operational disruptions.
- Provide technical support to resolve machinery-related production issues.
- Report maintenance performance metrics and insights to senior management.
Education / Academic Qualification
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field. Alternatively, equivalent work experience in a manufacturing environment.
Key Required Experience, Skills and Ability
- At least 7-10 years of experience in maintenance management, preferably in injection molding or similar manufacturing environment.
- Proven experience in managing a team of maintenance professionals.
- In-depth knowledge of injection molding machinery, maintenance practices, and troubleshooting equipment.
- Proficiency in maintenance management software (CMMS).
- Ability to perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
- Knowledge of electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
- Ability to manage budgets and control maintenance costs effectively.
- Relevant technical certifications (e.g., Maintenance Manager certification, Six Sigma, etc.) are a plus.
