Job summary

Public Service Division is seeking a Senior / Executive / Project Engineer, Rail Communications to lead the rail communications systems design and deployment across MRT assets in Singapore.

You will manage contractors, drive safety, quality and schedule, prepare tender specs, participate in tender evaluations, and coordinate with project teams, operators and stakeholders to deliver on time and within budget.

• Knowledge of electrical and electronics engineering principles.

Responsibilities

• Lead role in managing contractors to design, supply, install, test and commission rail communications systems across MRT facilities.
• Assist in ensuring safety, quality, progress and environmental impact of contractors’ works.
• Plan and manage risks and cash flows for contracts and issue instructions and assess variations/payments/claims.
• Liaise with project teams, contractors, designers, architects, stakeholders and railway operator to ensure good coordination.
• Prepare tender specifications, participate in tender evaluation and award.

What the role is

Senior / Executive / Project Engineer, Rail Communications

What you will be working on

You will play a lead role in managing the Contractors to design, supply, install, test and commission the rail communications system namely fibre-optic transmissions, digital trunked radio, public address and telephony, CCTV surveillance, access management and travel information systems at MRT control centre, depot, stations and trackside for extension/enhancement to Existing Lines and new MRT Lines. You will assist in ensuring the safety, quality, progress and environmental impact of the Contractors’ works. You will be involved in the planning and managing the risks and cash flows of the various contracts as well as the issuance of instructions and assessment of variations / payments / claims. You are also required to liaise with various parties, such as other project teams, contractors, designers, architects, stakeholders and appointed Railway Operator to ensure that the projects are well coordinated. In addition, you will be required to prepare tender specifications, participate in tender evaluation and award.

What we are looking for

• Knowledge in Electrical and Electronics Engineering
• Relevant experience in large-scale infrastructure projects will be considered for senior position.
• Good appreciation of the constraints and interface requirements of civil, trackwork, electrical and mechanical works
• Strong project management, decision making and leadership skills with proven track records will be of advantage.
• Good communication and presentation skills
• Team player who is analytical, resourceful, and result-oriented
• Able to perform occasional night works including weekends and public holidays
