Job summary

EC1 Partners is seeking a hands-on Linux Platform Operations Engineer to join its Singapore infrastructure team. You will support production, DR, and test environments, focusing on on-premise infrastructure, hardware, and low-latency trading-related systems in a highly technical setting.

In this role you will own Linux systems administration, automate with Python and Shell, collaborate with SRE, security, and operations teams across regions, and contribute to incident response, capacity

Qualifications

• Hands-on Linux systems administration in a production environment.
• Strong troubleshooting across OS, hardware, storage, networking and performance.
• Experience with on-premise, bare-metal infrastructure and hardware support.
• Scripting with Python or Shell; familiarity with configuration management.

Responsibilities

• Support and maintain Linux server infrastructure across global production environments.
• Troubleshoot Linux issues across operating systems, hardware, storage, networking, performance and application support layers.
• Support bare-metal infrastructure, OS lifecycle management, patching, upgrades, and system configuration.
• Work with internal automation tooling and contribute to improvements using Python, Shell scripting, or similar technologies.
• Participate in incident response, root cause analysis, post-incident reviews, and long-term remediation.
• Support monitoring, observability, reporting, and operational health checks across critical infrastructure.
• Work with engineering teams on capacity planning, performance tuning, infrastructure projects, and production change activity.

Singapore | Permanent | Financial Markets Technology

EC1 Partners is working with a leading global financial markets technology business that is building out its Singapore infrastructure team. This is an opportunity for a Linux Platform Operations Engineer to join a highly technical environment supporting critical trading platforms, low-latency infrastructure, and globally distributed production systems.

The role would suit a hands-on Linux engineer with strong experience across production infrastructure, on-premise systems, hardware support, automation, and operational troubleshooting. Financial markets experience would be helpful, but the priority is strong Linux depth, reliability, ownership, and the ability to support business-critical environments.

The Role

You will be responsible for supporting, maintaining, and improving Linux infrastructure across production, disaster recovery, and test environments. The current environment is heavily weighted towards on-premise infrastructure, with gradual cloud adoption expected over time.

This is a hands-on engineering role covering Linux systems administration, hardware support, configuration management, automation, incident response, performance troubleshooting, and operational reliability. You will work closely with infrastructure, engineering, SRE, security, and operations teams across multiple regions.

Key Responsibilities

• Support and maintain Linux server infrastructure across global production environments.
• Troubleshoot complex Linux issues across operating systems, hardware, storage, networking, performance, and application support layers.
• Support bare-metal infrastructure, OS lifecycle management, patching, upgrades, and system configuration.
• Work with internal automation tooling and contribute to improvements using Python, Shell scripting, or similar technologies.
• Participate in incident response, root cause analysis, post-incident reviews, and long-term remediation.
• Support monitoring, observability, reporting, and operational health checks across critical infrastructure.
• Work with engineering teams on capacity planning, performance tuning, infrastructure projects, and production change activity.
• Operate in a highly trusted environment with access to critical low-latency trading systems.

Experience Required

• Strong hands-on experience in Linux systems administration within a production environment.
• Excellent Linux command-line skills and strong troubleshooting capability.
• Experience supporting on-premise, bare-metal, or hardware-based infrastructure.
• Good scripting ability, ideally with Python and/or Shell.
• Experience with configuration management, patching, monitoring, and operational tooling.
• Storage experience across SAN, NAS, multipath, RAID, NVMe, or capacity planning would be beneficial.
• Exposure to Prometheus, Grafana, Salt, RPMs, Terraform, Git, CI/CD, Docker, Kubernetes, AWS, or GCP would be advantageous.
• Financial markets, trading, exchange, or other low-latency infrastructure experience would be useful but is not essential.
• Strong ownership, attention to detail, and the ability to work calmly in a critical production environment.
