A community support organization in Singapore is seeking a Life Coach to provide training and assistance to Persons with Intellectual Disabilities. The role involves developing care plans, conducting programs, and supporting clients to achieve their goals. Candidates should have at least a Diploma, preferably in Disability Studies or special education, and a passion for enhancing client independence and quality of life. Life Coaches provides training, intervention and assistance to Persons with Intellectual Disabilities (PwIDs) to enhance their community living and independent living skills. They also work closely with caregivers and PwIDS in discussing future care plans and building up their support network with the support of social workers and community partners.
Community-Based Support Services (CSS) is the dynamic and nimble service delivery arm in MINDS that responds to emerging needs of PWIDs and Caregivers in the community. Other services include Me Too! Club, Home Based Care Services, Caregivers Support Services, Special Student Care Centres and Disability Case Management Programme, MINDS Clinic to enhance community inclusion and participation of caregivers and PWIDs in the community.
As part of the Future Care Planning Team, the Life Coaches play a pivotal role in the training and well-being of PwIDs towards independence. Using a person‑centred approach, he/she works towards improving their independent living and confidence to access the community with the final goal of enhancing the client's quality of life.
He/she maintains up-to‑date documentation of clients' conditions and learning progress. He/She regularly provides inputs for the development and review of future care plans. A caring, respectful, and patient professional, the Life Coach works with various community stakeholders and partners to advocate for the needs of clients to live with support in the community.
