Job description

Responsibilities

• Reviewing, vetting and drafting a range of legal documents, including, without limitation, loan agreements, product terms and conditions, security documents as requested by different departments, to ensure legal compliance of local and international standards.
• Liaison, coordination and collaboration with both front and back office functions, internal control groups and external counsel.
• Implement procedures and processes to standardise certain practices across the Group.
• Provide legal support to the various business units and business enablers.
• Identification of and addressing legal and reputation risks; Suggesting mitigating approaches to the bank’s risk and advising the business on legal and reputation risks.
• Handling disputes, complaints and other general legal work from time to time and advising on Court Papers & Claims served on the bank with oversight from Group Legal KL.
• Advising on cross-border banking rules and regulations.
• Advising on laws and regulations applicable to the bank's services and products.
• Reviewing panel law firm applications with oversight from Group Legal, KL.

Job Requirements

• Possesses minimally Bachelor's Degree in Law.
• At least 3 years of relevant post‑qualification or in‑house legal experience
• Qualified under the Singapore Legal Profession Act (LPA) preferred (Qualified Person / called to the Singapore Bar).
• Knowledge of financial institution operations or transactions
• Works well within a team and independently, self‑motivated, proactive, analytical and able to multi‑task
• Able to provide clear advice and express opinions strongly if necessary
• Excellent English communication skills, both written and spoken
