A dynamic fintech company in Singapore is seeking a motivated Legal Counsel to provide legal and regulatory advice across various business areas. The role includes advising on licensing under the Payment Services Act, managing contracts, and ensuring compliance with the Personal Data Protection Act. Ideal candidates will have 3–6 years of legal experience, preferably in the fintech sector, and a deep understanding of blockchain and digital assets.

Qualifications

  • Qualified to practice law in Singapore (Singapore Bar) is preferred.
  • 3–6 years of legal experience in a law firm or in-house legal role.
  • Strong background in crypto, fintech, payments, or financial services industries is a major advantage.

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly capable and motivated Legal Counsel to support our fast‑growing business in Singapore and globally. This role will be responsible for providing legal and regulatory advice across all areas of the business, including licensing, product development, commercial contracts, and compliance with local and international regulations.

The ideal candidate will have solid experience with Singapore’s regulatory framework, especially the Payment Services Act (PSA), data protection laws (PDPA), and Anti‑Money Laundering/Counter‑Financing of Terrorism (AML/CFT) obligations. Experience in cryptocurrency, blockchain, or fintech sectors is strongly preferred.

Key Responsibilities
1. Regulatory & Licensing
  • Advise on regulatory licensing requirements, particularly under the Payment Services Act (PSA) and other MAS regulatory frameworks.
  • Support the application, variation, and ongoing maintenance of licenses with the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS).
  • Monitor regulatory developments in Singapore and other key jurisdictions and assess their impact on the business.
2. Product & Business Legal Advisory
  • Provide legal guidance on new product initiatives across business lines such as crypto lending, mining pools, and crypto card products.
  • Help structure products and services in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Draft and review customer‑facing documentation such as terms of service, privacy policies, and disclosures.
3. Commercial Contracts
  • Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements, including partnership agreements, SaaS contracts, service agreements, and technology licenses.
  • Ensure contracts reflect the company’s legal risk appetite and commercial goals.
  • Support the full contract lifecycle, from negotiation through execution and renewal.
4. Data Protection & Security
  • Ensure ongoing compliance with the Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA) and applicable global data privacy laws.
  • Collaborate with internal teams on data incident response and privacy risk assessments.
5. Dispute Resolution & Risk Management
  • Manage legal disputes, customer complaints, or regulatory inquiries in coordination with external counsel where necessary.
  • Identify legal risks across business functions and propose appropriate mitigation strategies.
Requirements
1. Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Laws (LLB) or equivalent legal degree.
  • Qualified to practice law in Singapore (Singapore Bar) is preferred.
2. Experience
  • 3–6 years of legal experience in a law firm or in‑house legal role.
  • Strong background in crypto, fintech, payments, or financial services industries is a major advantage.
  • Familiarity with MAS regulations, PSA, AML/CFT frameworks, and related financial services laws in Singapore.
3. Skills
  • Deep understanding of blockchain and digital asset technologies and the associated legal/regulatory considerations.
  • Strong legal drafting and negotiation skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities; comfortable working cross‑functionally with compliance, product, operations, and risk teams.
