Job description

The Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences (HASS) cluster at the Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD) invites applications for a full‑time, teaching‑track faculty position in Economics, with a focus on empirical research in areas including but not limited to:

  • Behavioral economics
  • Econometrics
  • Macroeconomics

Research on topics relevant to design, technology or artificial intelligence is preferred. Appointments will be made on an initial three‑year contract, renewable subject to review.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the development and teaching of new undergraduate courses in Economics for an interdisciplinary B.Sc. degree in design, artificial intelligence, and economics
  • Teach courses in our undergraduate core curriculum, such as introductory courses in social science or research methods
  • Contribute to interdisciplinary initiatives, in particular relating to Design and AI, through collaboration with colleagues in engineering, architecture, computer science, and design
  • Mentor students, including those working on capstone projects that connect research on human problems with technological innovation

Applicant should have an excellent record of effective teaching at the university level. We especially seek scholars with the potential to develop new directions in interdisciplinary teaching and who are interested in collaborating with scientists and technologists. Experience in or fostering collaborations with industry or the public sector will also be considered an advantage.
