Job summary

Singapore Polytechnic invites applications for an academic role to teach diploma and higher levels in AI, data science, computer vision, NLP, statistics, programming and mathematics.

Successful candidates will develop curriculum, mentor students, and contribute to consultancy and applied industry research. The appointment is a two-year contract with potential extension based on performance.

Qualifications

• Tertiary education in AI, Data Science, Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or Statistics.
• Able to translate AI concepts into practical business solutions and real-world applications.
• Keen to stay current with emerging AI technologies and apply them in teaching and industry projects.
• Experience in cloud computing or software engineering, deployment of AI/DS models into production is preferred though not mandatory.

The job of an academic is challenging but meaningful. Not only will s/he have both the knowledge and working experience, s/he must also possess a passion for working with youths and adult learners. There will be opportunities to develop curriculum, introduce new courses as well as be involved in consultancy and applied industry/research projects. Administrative work related to teaching and School/Institutional strategic initiatives will also be an important part of the job. The successful candidates will be expected to be resourceful and innovative with initiative and good communication skills.

[What you will be working on]

The appointee must be competent to teach at diploma and higher levels in any one of the following areas:

• Artificial Intelligence (AI), including AI applications, agent-based systems and workflow automation
• Computer Vision (CV)
• Data Science (DS)
• Natural Language Processing (NLP) and its applications in generative AI and agentic AI

In addition, the appointee should also be able to teach in any one of the following areas:

• Statistics
• Programming
• Mathematics

The appointee will also be required to teach at least one of the following broad-based, foundational modules under the common core curriculum to enable our students to have the necessary emerging digital skills and human skills.

• Data Fluency
• Artificial Intelligence and Its Impact
• Persuasive Communication with Data Storytelling
• Problem Solving with Creative and Computational Thinking
