Job summary

A prestigious research agency in Singapore is seeking a strategic leader to head its MedTech venture acceleration initiatives. The ideal candidate will have at least 15 years of experience in the MedTech field, demonstrating a strong track record in commercialisation, fundraising, and managing multidisciplinary teams. Responsibilities include overseeing project implementation and building partnerships to enhance venture offerings. Candidates should possess excellent negotiation and communication skills, and an understanding of intellectual property related to the MedTech industry.

Job description
Job Responsibilities
  • Lead the implementation and venture acceleration function, ensuring successful translation of MC-supported projects into investible, market-ready products and ventures.
  • Oversee and drive end-to-end project implementation, from onboarding through to productisation, clinical validation, regulatory approval and commercialisation.
  • Shape and execute MC’s venture acceleration framework by i) establishing and deepening partnerships with venture capital, incubators, accelerators and corporates to enhance MC’s venture acceleration offering and ii) strengthening MedTech Catapult’s in‑house capabilities to support commercialisation especially in business plan development and fundraising.
  • Lead the licensing and equity negotiations and agreements for MedTech Catapult with portfolio companies, working closely with A*STAR’s technology‑transfer and venture creation groups to see through agreements.
  • Identify promising medical technology innovations for venture creation and guide early‑stage projects/companies through the complex development and regulatory landscape.
  • Work closely with portfolio companies and internal teams to translate business opportunities into actionable project proposals with clear commercialisation pathways.
  • Advise and work with MedTech Catapult’s Steering Committee and Project Evaluation Committee on project selection, go/no‑go decisions and commercialisation pathways.
  • Guide and mentor team members, ensuring alignment and effective execution across project due‑diligence and scoping, business development, market access and fundraising.
  • Monitor portfolio performance and outcomes, ensuring alignment with MC’s KPIs/TIs and national MedTech sectoral strategy towards successful fundraising, commercialisation and adoption.
  • Represent MC externally with partners, investors and industry stakeholders as a national go‑to for MedTech venture acceleration.
Requirements
  • Master’s or higher in Bioengineering, Business, or related discipline, with strong understanding of MedTech value chain (devices, LSTs, Dx).
  • Minimum 15 years of experience in MedTech/life sciences commercialisation, venture acceleration (incubators/accelerators, or investment).
  • Demonstrated track record in building/scaling ventures, fundraising, closing licensing/equity deals, and/or successfully bringing regulated MedTech products to market.
  • Strong understanding of intellectual property (IP) and contract law, excellent negotiation and communication skills, experience with IP licensing.
  • Strong network across MedTech industry, VC, and clinical ecosystem.
  • Leadership experience in managing high‑performing, multidisciplinary teams in dynamic environments.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
