We are looking for you, Safety Engineer to join our Safety Team in the Singapore Refinery. You will focus on functionally leading the Singapore Refinery Operational Safety Team in the area of operational safety, workplace safety, Crisis & Security to ensure full compliance with Corporate Safety, local and regulatory safety requirements. In this job you will collaborate and work closely with the safety team, stakeholders from other functions and departments including the Corporate Safety Team in Finland.

You will provide your expertise to our Refinery on matters of operational safety, such as Safety Leadership cultural shift, critical field controls & verifications, Contractor Safety, Turnaround Safety, Workplace Safety & Health Committee, Fire Safety Management, Emergency Response, Crisis & Security management. In our Safety team, you will report to the Safety Manager and functionally lead the safety team in safety-related tasks and achieve our common goals. Intervening and working closely with stakeholders to resolve operational safety related challenges and escalate to Safety Manager for directions and resolutions. As the functional safety lead, your experience to coach the safety operation team is one of the key aspects and accountability in this role. Responsibilities
  • Drive and lead operational safety, workplace safety, fire safety, crisis & emergency response, and security disciplines.
  • Functionally lead (without direct reportees) the operational safety team consisting of safety professionals to ensure refinery legal right to operate safely is delivered, with priorities aligned back to the safety manager.
  • Coach and support the operational safety team as needed.
  • Support safety manager in strategic and tactical safety planning, oversight, implementation and execution of safety programs.
Operational Safety
  • Support and participate in refinery operational risk assessments, safety-critical job and deviations reviews.
  • Support and deliver corporate and refinery implementation of creating safety together to strengthen refinery safety cultural shift.
  • Responsible for the oversight and governance of critical safety risk controls implementation, monitoring and trending, verified and communicated for learnings & improvement.
Workplace Safety
  • Together with refinery key stakeholders, implement contractors and suppliers safety management.
  • Oversight the execution of the Turnaround Safety Lead and team in turnaround planning, preparations, executions and lessons learned.
  • Support Workplace Safety & Health Committee Chairman and Secretary duties and responsibilities.
  • Manage site fire safety, physical security and contract security services.
Incident Management
  • Participate as safety subject matter expert in incident investigation team, facilitate Safety department owned investigations or as directed.
  • Structure the emergency response plan, training contents of company emergency response team to mitigate incidents, emergencies and compliance to National CERT Audits and Standard.
  • Train refinery crisis leader and crisis management team in handling crisis situations.
Keys to success in this role / The best combination to succeed in this role
  • Minimum 12 years of safety working experience in the oil & gas, petrochemical industry.
  • Able to functionally influence, lead and manage a team of safety professionals and drive stakeholders to achieve common objectives.
  • Expert in operationalising workplace safety, fire safety, crisis management, emergency response and physical security.
  • Deep knowledge of local WSH regulations and experience dealing with local regulators such as MHD, MOM, SPF, SCDF, etc.
  • Strong communicator, writing and analytical skills.
  • Recognised Bachelor’s Degree in safety or similar; Master’s Degree in safety highly desired.
  • Registered WSHO, FSM and Noise Monitoring Officer.
