Job summary

Thoughtworks is seeking a senior Experience Designer to lead the design and delivery of technology projects and digital products for clients in a fast-paced, security-conscious environment. You will work with cross-functional teams to craft journeys, blueprints, prototypes, and design systems while guiding research and workshops.

You will mentor peers, advocate for design excellence, and contribute to Thoughtworks’ broader community through talks and events.

Qualifications

• Requires at least 10 years of experience in experience design and specialities in three additional areas such as user research, service design, digital product design, interface design, or visual design.
• Ability to lead and advise research activities on experience design projects using methods like contextual inquiry, moderated interviews, experiments, and user testing.

Responsibilities

• Play an active role in delivering and designing technology projects that transform client work and create new digital products and services.
• Collaborate with small cross-functional teams to produce experience design deliverables including journey maps, service blueprints, roadmaps, prototypes, and design systems.
• Facilitate workshops and craft design strategies for products; make strategic portfolio-level decisions.
• Apply research methods to clearly present insights to clients and teammates.
• Set up design hypotheses for delivery teams comprising Thoughtworkers and clients.
• Regularly assess and communicate project scope, risks, and updates.
• Balance client and Thoughtworker expectations by clearly communicating deliverables.
• Mentor teammates on experience design methods and tools, extending expertise on the team.
• Advocate experience design within Thoughtworks and speak at conferences, webinars, meetups and more.

Due to the nature of the projects and specific client security clearance, this role requires the successful candidate to be a Singapore Citizen or Singapore PR.

Job responsibilities

• You will play an active role in the delivery and design of technology projects that transform how our clients work while developing new digital products and services.
• Collaborate with small, cross-functional teams to create a wide range of experience design deliverables including journey maps, service blueprints, roadmaps, prototypes, and design systems.
• You will facilitate workshops, develop unique design strategies for products and make strategic decisions at the portfolio level.
• Behind the scenes, you will apply various research methods such as context analysis, moderated interviews, experiments and user tests in order to clearly present your methods to your client and teammates.
• Set up inspiring design hypotheses for delivery teams that consist of both Thoughtworkers and our customers.
• Ensure that project scope, risks and updates are regularly assessed and communicated.
• Balance client and Thoughtworker expectations by clearly communicating experience design deliverables.
• Extend your expertise to teammates by providing on-the-job training and support on all aspects of experience design methods and tools.
• Advocate experience design expertise to the broader community outside of Thoughtworks, speaking at conferences, webinars, meetups and more.

Job qualifications

Technical Skills

• You have at least 10 years of experience in all things experience design with specialities in at least three additional areas such as user research, service design, digital product design, interface design, visual design or other design-related disciplines.
• You're comfortable leading and advising research activities on experience design projects, employing different methods such as contextual inquiry, moderated interviews, experiments, user testing, etc.

Professional Skills

• You bring an inspiring, unique approach to product design and love facilitating client brainstorms and internal sessions with your team.
• You're happy to design solo or collaborate with designers/developers to create a wide range of experience design deliverables.
• A keen interest in helping others grow in their design skills and capabilities.
• You can easily liaise between clients and other key stakeholders throughout projects, ensuring buy-in and gaining trust along the way.
• A knack for communicating and defining project roles to your design teammates with the ability to build confidence in others.
• A passion for contributing to the growing experience design community at Thoughtworks through peer reviews, expanding design teams' understanding of group dynamics and ensuring consistency in the quality of design.
