Job summary

Standard Chartered Singapore is hiring a lead developer to head a globally distributed team in Singapore, driving the Blade pricing, execution, and trade processing platform for Financial Markets.

You will own technical delivery, shape the stream's roadmap, and collaborate with engineers, analysts, PMs, and stakeholders across locations. Strong leadership, architecture, and full stack capability are essential.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of full stack engineering experience with deep frontend or backend expertise.
• Strong software design principles and robust, well-tested code.
• Expert in React, Redux, RX JS, NPM/Yarn, webpack, CSS, HTML.
• Expert in Java and Spring Boot; reactive programming is a plus.
• Able to articulate what was built and why with clear code explanations.
• Built complex real-time event-driven applications with low latency.

Responsibilities

• Serve as senior developer, potentially leading a squad of several members.
• Unblock progress and solve problems at the team level.
• Own the technical aspect of the team's delivery and code quality.
• Drive the stream's development processes and improve platform delivery.
• Define the team's technical roadmap and align with overall platform roadmap.
• Oversee designs by other developers to ensure alignment with roadmaps.
• Participate in hiring and provide peer coaching.

Key Responsibilities

As a lead developer based in Singapore, you’ll lead a globally distributed team, with sharp focus on specific business domain. You will drive our platform forwards and deliver quality solutions to business-critical customer requirements. Your team will collaborate in a dynamic global organisation, with fellow engineers, business analysts, project managers and business stakeholders across multiple locations.

• Serves as senior developer, potentially leading a squad of several members.
• Unblocks progress and solves problems at the team’s level.
• Owns the technical aspect of the team's delivery.
• Owns the effectiveness of the stream's development processes.
• Drives the technical roadmap for the stream and participates in improving the wider platform.
• Oversees the designs done by other developers and ensures they are aligned with the roadmaps.
• Oversees the velocity and quality of the code produced by the stream's developers.

• Definition of the team’s technical roadmap, adherence to the platform’s roadmap.

• Take ownership of the of design and delivery of assigned features. Take ownership for and drive the delivery of platform-wide initiatives and issue remediations.

• Facilitate the team’s technical design and delivery processes. Own the team’s process improvements initiatives.

• Participate in hiring, engage in peer coaching.

Our Ideal Candidate

• 10+ years of relevant experience in full stack engineering background with deep expertise in either front end or back end development, and solid hands on experience across the other part of the stack.
• Possess good software design principles and the ability to write robust code and accompanying test suites.
• Expert or experienced in React, Redux, RX JS, NPM/Yarn, webpack, CSS, HTML and the rest of web stack.
• Expert or experienced in Java and Spring Boot. Knowledge of reactive programming is a strong plus.
• Writes efficient, clear and well tested code, and able to articulate what was built and why.
• Built complex, real-time, event-driven, highly componentized applications.
• Optimized performance of latency sensitive systems.
• Financial Market domain knowledge, preferably investment banking, Derivatives product knowledge and e-trading technology experience.
• Proven technical leadership experience with experience leading a team in an agile product development environment.
• Experienced in driving requirements and development efforts.
• Proactive and autonomous self-starter.
• Experienced in the end-to-end design, development and support complex systems.
• Keen problem solver, with strong sense of ownership and ability to deal with ambiguity.
