Job description

JOB DESCRIPTION:

We are looking for a qualified individual who is highly motivated, passionate for science, and committed to laboratory ethics, to be employed for the role of Research Officer / Laboratory Officer. The candidate will work with a dynamic team on one or more of the below projects:

  • To screen, identify and validate potential candidates targeting metabolic pathways, with the aim to develop novel therapeutic strategies targeting obesity and its associated complications.
  • To study the metabolic regulation of immune cells in non-alcoholic steatohepatitis-associated hepatocellular carcinoma (NASH-HCC) progression.
  • To investigate dysregulated cellular energetics and metabolites in tumor cells and their microenvironment, towards advancing metabolic drug discovery and therapy for cancer.
  • To develop non-invasive circulating biomarkers and imaging-based strategies for early diagnosis and stratification of sarcopenia.

The successful candidate will:

  • Perform wet lab experiments using techniques such as cell culture, molecular biology and assays, microscopy, and animal phenotyping and experiments.
  • Maintain accurate monitoring and reporting of experimental set-up, results and research findings.
  • Provide laboratory maintenance support, record keeping and other administrative/logistical duties pertaining to lab operations.
  • Work closely with post-doc supervisor on a day-to-day basis, and interact, collaborate and assist other researchers and collaborators on related projects
  • Communicate regularly with supervisor and join discussions with Principal Investigator and rest of the lab to discuss scientific progress and direction

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Diploma in Biological Science and Life Science disciplines or equivalent field with research experience in a biomedical laboratory.

The following research experiences are preferred:

  • Mammalian cell culture experience
  • Hands on expertise in Molecular biology and such as DNA and RNA isolation, qRT-PCR, Plasmid construction and Western Blot.
  • Experience in animal handling.
  • Basic IHC/IF staining, microscope use and Image analysis.
  • Ability to multitask, work independently and as part of a team as well.
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written) and presentation skills.
